About the Bid

The East Midtown Association covers all or part of 48 blocks on the east side of Midtown Manhattan, stretching from East 49th Street to East 63rd Street (south to north) and from Second Avenue to Madison Avenue (east to west). There are almost 400 commercial properties located within the district, housing almost 900 ground-floor businesses and thousands of upper-floor commercial enterprises. Many residents of the district also inhabit some of the world's most exclusive addresses.

The businesses located within the district are notably diverse, encompassing luxury shopping along the most expensive commercial real estate in the world - East 57th Street - as well as the fashionable retail corridors along Madison and Park Avenues. High-rise corporate office towers dominate the central core of the district. East Midtown is home to Bloomingdale's, a destination for New Yorkers and tourists alike. Decorators from throughout the world, as well as savvy shoppers, know that the finest in home décor and design can be found in the Decorative Arts District, clustered in the blocks of the upper East 50s and 60s surrounding the D&D Building. The area also boasts some of the finest dining New York has to offer, as well as world-class accommodations - including the Waldorf-Astoria, the Regency, the Benjamin, and a host of other hotels. They attract everyone from heads of state to travelers on a budget.

The district is a major transit hub, served by some of the city's busiest subway stations and adjacent to Grand Central Terminal. It's also only a short walk from Times Square, the Theatre District, and a number of other New York City attractions, making it the city's preeminently convenient location, as well as a destination in itself.

To echo our new marketing slogan, this safe, vibrant, upscale, and diverse community is truly “Where New York Gets Its Style."
