Congratulations to the February, 2009 "East Midtown Block of the Month": East 58th Street, between Second Avenue and Third Avenue.
Merchants and property owners on this block -- in the heart of the Decorative Arts District -- have always been extremely involved in district marketing programs. In fact, the 2005-06 initiative sponsored by the East Midtown Partnership -- "Inside DecArts" -- was first conceived by East 58th Street's Bebe Regnier of Lampworks (also a member of the EMP Board of Directors), and embraced by her neighboring home decor showrooms.
However, the involvement of the men and women on East 58th Street has extended far beyond those special events. They roll up their sleeves and become involved in community organizations, and they never hesitate to suggest ways in which East Midtown Partnership programming can better serve their block and the entire community. As people who are vigilant about sanitation, public safety, and beautification concerns, business owners on East 58th Street were especially concerned about cleanliness conditions during the month of February, and worked with the EMP to adjust schedules and better coordinate supervision of the "Clean Team" to keep the streets and sidewalks as well-maintained as the exclusive showrooms and elegant restaurants lining the block.
Each month we'll designate a new "Block of the Month," recognizing the cleanliness, beautification, and marketing efforts and community spirit of the people who own property and work there. Merchants on the block will be given window decals to note the honor, and special recognition on our web site. If you would like to nominate your block, contact us!
