Join Us to Celebrate Lunar New Year with Wishing Trees Along 3rd Avenue from February 1-10, 2020!

In celebration of Lunar New Year we are again coordinating with our colleagues at the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District and the Chinatown Partnership to install wishing trees in the district!

Since ancient times, hanging wishes on trees for the New Year is synonymous with luck and good fortune, and is believed to encourage dreams to come true! These bright and colorful trees decorated with lanterns and ribbons will be along 3rd Avenue between 55th Street and 60th Street in East Midtown. Participating retailers and restaurants will be giving out ribbons for visitors and shoppers and shoppers to add with their own wishes for the new year!

To sign-up to participate as a business please fill out our this short form!

Lunar New Year celebration in East Midtown is the result of an on-going partnership between the Chinatown Partnership, the East Midtown Partnership, the Grand Central Partnership, and the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District. You can see photographs of last year's wishing tree on Madison Avenue and here and photographs of lion dancers and cultural performance in district 2018, 2017, and 2016 here.
